How to change JioFi Wi-Fi(SSID) name and password?

JioFi is a portable Wi-Fi hotspot that can help you enjoy high speed internet without any cable internet connection. You can connect multiple device, upto 10 with the JioFi portable Wi-Fi. In this age of internet, it is very important to stay connected. Now as everything has it’s advantages and disadvantages, so does internet. In this connected world hackers are also a part. If your network is not secure your precious data and money can be hacked. To save yourself from this you need to secure your Wi-fi network first. That’s why you should know how to change the default JioFi WiFi name and password.

Steps to change JioFi Wifi name and password

  • First connect to JioFi using the password you will find on the back of the JioFi box.
  • Open any browser and enter the URL- jiofi.local.html in the address bar of the browser.

  • You will see all the information about your JioFi here. But you can not edit this info yet.

  • Now on the top-right corner, you will find a Login button. Click on it.
  • A login box will pop up and ask you to fill in the username and the password. Enter “administrator” in both the blanks.

  • Here you can see a new panel has opened where you can see and change all the different settings of JioFi.

  • Look for the option of setting change and then go-to Settings tab from there.

  • Then tap on Wi-Fi and settings for wifi network will open.

  • From here you can change the SSID of the router that in the name of the Wi-Fi.
  • After you have typed the new name, hit Apply. This will save your settings.
  • Wait for 1-2 minutes and your router will restart.
  • You will be disconnected from the network as you have changed the name of the network.
  • Go to the wifi settings again and look for the new wifi(New name that you set).
  • Connect to the new wifi network using your old password that was on the box.

  • Now on the top-right corner, you will find a Login button. You click on it.
  • When you click it, a login box will pop up where you need to fill in the username and the password. Enter “administrator” in both the blanks.

  • Type in your new password here and hit Apply.
  • Wait for 1-2 minutes and your settings will be saved.
  • You will be disconnected from the network as you just changed the password.
  • Now go to your wi-fi settings and connect to your Wifi with the new password you just set.
  • You have successfully changed the password of your JioFi.

Note: You need to set a strong password for your wifi i.e. a combination of upper case, lower case, numeric characrtors and symbols. Also, make sure the Wireless Security is set to WPA2-PSK and Encryption Type is set to AES. This is the most powerful combination to protect you from hacking.
